I’m just walkin’

Check this guy out.  Matt Green walked across America in 2010.  He’s starting a new walk, 7500 mile walk in NYC, on every street of every block of New York City and it’s 5 boroughs.  You can follow his journey here.

From following Matt’s walk, then following Steve Garufi’s two bike rides across America, (read about those rides here), they have inspired me.   I hope that one day I’ll have the time and money to do a ride across this great country.  What a great way to see the country and meet all kinds of interesting people.

Couponing

Well, I never thought I’d be into something like this but here I am.  My wife is working and going to school so her income is way down from where it was.  To try and make ends meet a little better We’ve decided to try my hand at couponing.

So Far so good.  I’m going to have to work on my organizational skills to get good at it but it’s working out good so far.

I’ve found a couple good sites that I like that helped me get started, but the real killer app for couponing is using an RSS Reader to keep track of all the posts from the coupon blogs and forums.  So far I’m liking Google Reader the best.  An RSS reader is an application that lists all the articles that you subscribe to and you don’t have to view the actual page to read the article.  This is helpful because it allows me to add a bunch of sites to my account and it puts all the posts from all the pages into one screen.  All I have to do is scroll down thru the posts and click on the ones I’m interested in.  Most if not all the Couponing blogs are all support RSS so all you need to do once you open your Google Reader account is click the “Add Subscription” button at the top left of the Reader window, then type in the website address (for example http://www.thebrownhomeonline.com) of the blog or web page you want to monitor and follow the directions.

Check out Couponing 101 and My Dallas Mommy when you get a minute as well.  They do a great job of helping you get started with couponing and don’t forget to click on their advertisements on there website.  They make money from the ad’s and that’s how they can offer all that information and work for free to you and I.

Then check out the Google Reader.  Add those to sites to your reader account and start watching the feeds roll in.  Pretty cool and it makes it a lot easier to keep track of what’s going on where in the couponing world.

All Most Over….

Wow, what a crazy few months it’s been.  Running around like crazy between basketball practices, coaching 2 teams, working on the LEAYSA Board trying to squeeze some family time it.  It’s been fun, but it’s about over.

This weekend Logan’s Team, the 12 year old and Under age group, are playing in the TAAF Regional Tournament.  I’m coaching that team and have great kids on the team.  Logan has played so well and improves every game We went undefeated this year and earn our spot as the champions of the league.  That qualified us to represent Little Elm in the TAAF Regional tournament.  I can’t wait!

Dru’s team, the 8 and Under age group didn’t have quite as good of a year, but the important thing is they had fun, and thats why we do it.  They all improved and we were a much better team by the end of the year!

I’ll let you know how the tournament goes…

Playing Catch Up

Wow, how time flies.  We’ve been slammed with School, Church, Work and Sports.  Seems like we are always running to this meeting or that, drop the kids of at practice, pick them up, get them to guitar lessons, so on and so forth.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, but it’s amazing how fast time fly’s.

The biggest new this fall is Logan made the Junior High football team.  This is his only his 2nd year playing football and he made the B time.  I couldn’t be more proud of him.  He gets some decent playing time and their team is undefeated so far.   It’s the highlight of Shasta and I’s week getting to go watch him play.
Dru has weekly tennis lessons and seems to really enjoy it.  His coach is 82 years old and is a wonderful coach.  We’ve never played tennis and i’m learning that there is alot to that game, and it’s a blast.

Logan and I are taking Guitar lessons and loving them.  I’m amazed at how fast he picks it up.  I’m way slower on picking it up and pretty much go just to pick something up, but Logan progresses a bunch every week.  We are looking for someone to teach him drum’s as well, and Dru can’t wait to learn the Drums.  Now, if we could just get Shasta to play the Bass then we’d have our own little band!  :)
Basketball Season for the boys is fastly approaching.  Logan is going to try out for the Junior High team as well as play in a youth league, and Dru will be playing on the team I’ll be coaching.  I’m really looking forward to that!

We got our first report card of the year a couple weeks ago and both boys made the Honor Roll!  We are so proud of them both!

Well, that’s all for now,  I’ll try to get more done later.
